When the developer uploads an app and starts the test you will receive an email with a link to our mobile website m.thebetafamily.com. Open this email in your iOS or Android device, and you will access the download link. Click download and the app will be installed on your device.
Sign in and click the button "Add device", select iOS or Android and insert you device details. iOS users must insert an UDID-number, read below how to find your UDID-number.
This is because you haven't added a device the developer is asking for. You can see what kind of device with what kind of system you need to beta test the app under 'Works on' on the app page.
Sometimes the developer offers a reward to beta testers, but it's not required. Many developers give out free codes for their app in the App Store, gift cards, etc. The reward is a deal between you and the developer, and The Beta Family will not interfere in any conflict regarding rewards.
After reading a test report, the developer can rate it. Your average rating will be visible to developers when they choose beta testers, hence, a good rating increases your chance to test future applications.
We validate the app files automatically, but we cannot give a 100% guarantee that they aren't broken and don't contain viruses. If you find something strange with an application you've downloaded, please contact us immideately.
No, developers can choose if the beta test should be public or private. If private, the developer invites testers via email.
Yes, just do exactly like you did when you added the device in the first place. If the device is already added to your account, its info will be updated.
Today we support beta testing for iOS and Android.
Your iOS device (Android does not use UDID) has an Unique Device Identifier, called UDID. This is a sequence of 40 letters and numbers which is specific to your device.
Why do we need your UDID Number? All UDIDs need to be in the application file to be able to install it. The developer will insert your UDID in the application for you.
How do I find my UDID number?
Download the app Ad Hoc Helper the app will start your e-mail client an show your device information and UDID. Send this mail to yourself and copy and paste it when you add a device on TBF.
